What is a disaster?

A disaster is an event that can unexpectedly affect the continuity of a business by damaging or injuring its employees, business systems, information, environment or the facility. Disasters can take the form of emergencies or accidents. Fires, floods, tornadoes or terrorism, hurricanes, HAZMAT spills or human error, earthquakes, equipment failures, utility outages, winter storms and virtually any other event that may injure people, property, information, or the eironment.
